PeaceNexus at Roundtable on Mineral Resource Governance in Senegal

In July 2025, PeaceNexus participated in the 5th edition of the Roundtable on the Governance of Mineral Resources, co-hosted by our partner OSIDEA, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, and the Government of Senegal. Held under the theme: “Oil, Gas, and Mineral Exploitation: From Resource Extraction to Transformation – Positioning Senegal as an African Industrial Hub” – the event convened key public and private sector stakeholders.

Participants included our partners, the Chamber of Mines of Burkina Faso, the National Council for Rural Dialogue and Cooperation (CNCR), and the Observatory for Monitoring Development Indicators in Africa (OSIDEA).

Our West Africa Programme Director, Aliou Demba Kebe, introduced and moderated a panel on environmental impact and partnerships with affected communities, as part of the broader theme: Preventing risks in coastal and marine zones, and in impacted territories.

It was a valuable opportunity for mutual learning, experience-sharing, and dialogue on sustainable development in the extractive sector.
