The CSC Hub Burkina is a national collective initiative created in 2021 with the support of PeaceNexus. At the time, it brought together six organisations/programmes to discuss conflict sensitivity practices and how to integrate them at the operational and organisational levels in order to systematise them. The Burkina Hub has grown and now has 91 members and 30 organisations represented (international, national and local).
Its ambition has also evolved towards promoting and disseminating conflict sensitivity practices in the fields of development, humanitarian aid, peacebuilding, media, education and the environment/climate, in order to contribute to social cohesion and peace.
The CSC-Hub Burkina is led by one of its founding members, with a participatory and inclusive governance system.
In order to contribute to achieving its objectives, the CSC-Hub Burkina has been developing and implementing an annual action plan since 2023.
Members take responsibility for organising, facilitating and financing the activities set out in the annual action plan.
The annual action plan is funded by members and partners of CSC-Hub Burkina who wish to do so, making use of the material and human resources available within the collective initiative.
The shared values that guide this initiative are: inclusion, integrity, interdependence, ethics, solidarity, commitment and accountability.
The objectives are:
- To popularise the conflict sensitivity approach within organisations and among those involved in their interventions;
- To strengthen the capacities of its members and partners;
- To be a platform for the exchange of experiences and good practices in conflict sensitivity.
The actions cover four areas:
- Capacity building in conflict sensitivity
- Peer coaching
- Sharing tools and experiences related to conflict sensitivity
- Promoting the practice of conflict sensitivity
“Promoting conflict sensitivity means working for peace by building bridges through our strategic choices, approaches and methods of intervention, while strengthening social cohesion. To carry out your projects in a peaceful manner, join the CSC-Hub Burkina, where you will find advice on how to avoid harming the context in which you are working.”
— Aly DAHANY, Conflict Sensitivity Advisor
